Boomjack

Boomjack

Press kit

Boomjack plays music on every iPhone and iPad in the room at the same moment, so a room full of phones sounds like one sound system. It is the second app from OK By Us, after Buzzer Party.

What it does

One phone goes on air with a mixtape it made from the songs on it — on the iPad, a record it pressed. Everyone else taps Tune In, finds the station on a radio dial, and their phone plays the same moment of the same song, in step. Bluetooth speakers are timed automatically, by listening for a few seconds, and stay quiet until they're in step.

The phones talk straight to each other over Apple's peer-to-peer Wi-Fi: no servers, no accounts, nothing collected. Songs come only from the user's own files; listeners keep nothing.
